About Noida

New Okhla Industrial Development Authority or Noida as it is commonly known is one of the most important cities of the north Indian state of Uttar Pradesh. The city came into existence on April 17, 1976 and ever since each year April 17 is celebrated as Noida Day. 

The city was created under the UP Industrial Area Development Act during the controversial emergency period. From then to now the city has tremendous growth in terms of infrastructure and service. Today Noida is an integral part of the national capital region. From being an extension of the capital to getting is own unique identity, the city of Noida has come a long way.

Location of Noida

about noidaNoida is in the Gautam Budh Nagar district of Uttar Pradesh. It is a part of the national capital region and is just 14 km from Connaught Place which is considered as the heart of the capital. 

The administrative headquarters though are situated in Greater Noida. The city is connected to Maharani Bagh locality in Delhi via the 550 meters long, eight lane DND Toll which is built over Yamuna river.

Noida is bound by NH-24 Bye-Pass in the north, River Hindon in the east and River Yamuna in the west direction. In the south, the city is bound by the meeting point of the two rivers, Yamuna and Hindon.

Greater Noida

Considering the growth and expansion that the city is witnessing, the city has been extended to Greater Noida. Greater Noida is also a part of Gautam Buddh district of Uttar Pradesh. All the sectors under Noida extension fall under the Greater Noida Industrial Development Authority, GNIDA. It has a total of 16 villages under its administration.

Climate of Noida

Noida has a climate similar to Delhi which goes into extremes. Summers are usually from March to June and the temperature ranges between 28 and 48 degree Celsius. Monsoon prevails from mid-June to mid-September. The cold winds from higher Himalayan region make winter in Noida harsh and bone-chilling. During peak winters, temperature fall to as low as 3 to 4 degree Celsius.

How to Reach Noida

Delhi Metro

Under the extension plan of Delhi Metro, the Delhi Metro services are now available to the residents of Noida. The Blue Line which was originally till Indraprastha was extended till Noida City Center and was officially open for public use in November 2009. 

Roadways in Noida

Noida is very well connected to the national capital via road network. The DND flyway which is built over Yamuna River connects Noida to Maharani Bagh locality of Delhi. One can hire a cab or an auto easily for local commuting in the city. in addition to this DTC and UPSRTC bus service is also available for the convenience of travellers.
